Connecting the Dots

Connecting the Dots

As mentioned time and time again throughout this book, seborrheic dermatitis is a complex skin condition which the medical world still fails to fully understand. The most current theories typically focus on three main factors of the skin condition:

  • Presence of malassezia fungi
  • Individual susceptibility to oleic free fatty acids
  • Sebaceous gland secretions

This book has discussed these aspects of the condition in significant detail. At the same time, the book also included a significant amount of discussion on various other relevant topics of health, nutrition and immunity.

This chapter tries to take many of the ideas presented earlier and tie them all together. The goal of this chapter is to provide you with enough knowledge in order to escape many of the potential treatment pitfalls and empower you to retake control of your skin.

Some of the writing might reference previous material and make assumptions that you’ve read earlier sections. So, if you feel like your not too familiar with a topic, you may want to go back and review the corresponding section from before. This approach will allow you to get the full benefit of this chapter.

Chapter Outline

In order to keep things structured, the writing is broken down into two main sections:

  1. Internal Influences
Complications from within our own body
    • Immune System Stability
    • Stress, Depression & Anxiety
    • Sebum Composition
    • Fatty Acid Metabolism & Synthesis
    • Digestion and Permeability
  2. External Influences
Potential issues in the world around us
    • Skin Microbiome
    • Fatty Acid Balance
    • Nutritional Intake
    • Disinformation
    • Skin Care Products
    • Lifestyle Issues

It is recommended you read this chapter in order. Bookmarking and re-reading the sections you find most relevant could help discover new ideas.
